North Tahoe Beach Party in conjunction with fireworks celebration
Fourth of July revelers will have the opportunity to start celebrating the holiday a day early in North Lake Tahoe. The July 3 fireworks display in Kings Beach continues to be one of the most popular in the region, and a holiday tradition among locals and visitors to North Lake Tahoe. This year, the festivities will include new activities for attendees to enjoy and participate in throughout the day and into the evening in celebration of Independence Day.
On Wednesday, July 3 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the North Tahoe Business Association will host a Beach Party open to all ages featuring DJ Chango, live music by local band One Track Mind, a dunk tank, beer garden, food vendors and contests that include sand castle building, watermelon eating and patriotic costumes. This fun, community celebration will take place outside of the North Tahoe Event Center and at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area, one of the most popular beaches around the lake, with Beach Party proceeds benefiting the Kings Beach July 3 Fireworks.
“This year, we’re turning this holiday celebration into a giant beach party and everyone is invited,” said Joy Doyle, executive director of the North Tahoe Business Association. “With so many things to do, as well as food and drink options, event patrons can enhance their day at the beach by participating in the beach party activities and contests leading up to the fireworks.”
The party kicks-off outside the North Tahoe Event Center at 2 p.m.; no ticket is needed. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. over Lake Tahoe, and there’s not a bad seat for viewing at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area. Attendees are invited to bring their own beach chair or blanket to enjoy the fireworks.
Those attending the festivities are encouraged to walk, bike or use public transportation to get to the Kings Beach State Recreation Area. For public transportation options, attendees are invited to visit www.laketahoetransit.com.
